Has Blizzard become short-sighted?

Postby Williamhawk » Thu Sep 28, 2017 11:48 am

Blizzard is known for being a development studio that takes it's time on projects. Instead of hastily releasing sub-standard games, they take up to 10 years or even more to make something to truly satisfy the costumers. Blizzard always planned LONG TERM, and they always saw the BIGGER picture. Even if it meant having a thinner bottom line today. However, as of late, Blizzard seems to be making short-sighted decisions that are good for the bottom line today, but not necessarily good for the future of Blizzard.
For example, consider World of Warcraft, a game that recently started losing subscribers for the first time in it's long history. A game clearly in a volatile position at the moment despite subscription numbers having stabilised. And Blizzard, instead of challenging themselves and releasing quality content, turn to gimmicks in order to hold figures steady. A title like Mists of Pandaria may be effective in holding numbers steady, but is it really a quality title of the sort we expect from Blizzard?

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
